Less than 2 weeks later my family and myself were about to enter the 401 when the vehicle started smoking around the front wheels, it had to be towed to a garage.Apparently the brakes were so dirty and filthy that they heated up so much they nearly caught fire.It was a $ 700.00 dollar fix.

Bo should understand that the provincial government sets the guidelines on vehicle safety standards and if a vehicle meets those standards a safety certificate is issued. If a brake caliper seized 2 weeks later, there is no possible way the mechanic could predict that. Also "dirty" brakes don't cause them to heat up. A caliper seized.

They are fortunate to not have caused a serious accident by their lack of responsibility for their customers

Ravine's mechanic passed the vehicle. I asked him if he could do a more detailed used car inspection and he replied that the safety covered all my concerns.

A friend of mine that lives close to Ravine Auto Repair recommended them to me. They're not a close drive as I live in downtown Toronto, but it is always worth the drive to see Rob, Colin & Leanne. I've been going to them now for over two years. I've gotten regular tires, winter tires, rims and regular oil changes from them. On two occasions I've brought my car in because the low tire pressure symbol came on and both times luckily the tires were able to be filled due to nails.

I hate to post this because I know this is a popular auto repair shop. I bought an older car from a friend in this neighborhood. I believe the owner is having trouble managing the volume of work. Requested a safety on the car about 5 months ago, which included a complete replacement of brakes and line repair. I did give a deadline (few days) due to signing over the car (government) & he did cut corners to get the car out. One month later, the brakes failed completely. They did give me a discount, but buyer beware. I ended up paying another garage for 2nd brake repair.

The owner of Ravine Auto defended his employee saying that he did what was required which in my mind was the minimum job possible for the maximum cost. Not exactly the motto a family run local business should be striving to emulate.

They all need to refresh their customer service skills before something serious happens.

It was a Saturday and he was more interested in leaving work than answering questions about the condition he observed while inspecting the vehicle. His curt answer was " it's in good shape"

Every time I make an appointment for service or a diagnostic, I know I'm going to get friendly, honest, efficient service from everyone there. They get the job done and they get it done correctly with a genuine smile on their faces.

If Bo was told he needed $700 worth of repairs because his brakes were dirty he wouldn't like that either. The vehicle was safe at the time of inspection.
